Entrepreneurs Jump the 'Shark Tank'

shark.jpgMark Burnett, producer of CBS television's Survivor, has teamed up with the rival ABC network to produce a reality show in which entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to multimillionaire moguls.

The seven-episode series, Shark Tank, is based on a successful reality show in the U.K. of the same formula - Dragon's Den, according to the Hollywood Reporter. In the show, the tycoons have to be convinced to invest their own money into an idea, the Reporter states. If they don't, the entrepreneur is eliminated.
"People are looking to be entrepreneurs to get ahead, yet there's no way anybody can go into a bank right now and get a loan," Burnett told the publication. "For these entrepreneurs, these sharks are their last stop."

THR reports that the entrepreneurs will include Robert Herjavec (internet security), Kevin Harrington (infomercials), Barbara Corcoran (real estate), Kevin O'Leary (Canadian investor) and Daymond John (FUBU sportswear). A fall air date seems likely, the publication states.

Trace - perhaps you should do some research before you post your comments. Dragon's Den was actually created by Nippon, which is a Japanese Company. So it was a UK created show.

I'm sick of Americans ripping off great UK shows and taking all the credit for them, it's pathetic.

There is a show that came out years ago in the UK called "Dragon's Den" that is the same thing! He is taking the same concept, changing the name and taking all the credit for it.

Can't you come up with something yourself?

I love the concept of this show. It could possibly do well. However, I do not believe that it will make instantateously catch fire. I think it is a show that could grow on you. The more people get soaked in the essence of the business start up phase the more comfortable/confident they'll become with the idea of starting their own business. I still believe that any business idea will work as long as the cost of sales, advertising and marketing doesn't outstrip revenues. Investing in a company like www.crosspromo.com is truly the place for anyone with an business and a small budget. The very best thing anyone with a great Idea should do is watch as much of this show as possible till some of the systems employed in the show become habit.

The concept is actually very entertaining and has had decent success in numerous countries (see some videos on this site: www.sharktankguide.com).

This show sounds pretty rediculous. Who wants to watch random people with bad ideas getting an opportunity when they themselves are sitting there with their own start-up that needs help? Anyway, instead of waiting to win a dumb reality TV show, you're better off getting to a bookstore and learning how to get your business going. Everyone has a "good idea," but the problem is implementing your plan properly. I read some good books that helped me to do that and it really paid off. Go find a book like this book I found Young Guns or somehting like that and do it the right way.

When everyone is sinking with the global crunch, this is the time for entrepreneurs to fly into the sky to perch on the realms of success pillars.Yes, there is where i want to be.

Wow, this sounds incredibly sophomoric and will probably be enjoyed by "0" actual entrepreneurs.

Lower the cost of production, quality of writing, stick a handy cam in a room with a bunch of C-list actors = Bigger Profit
